Hummingbird
Hummingbird
suspends itself
inches from my glasses–
hangs there
for two or three seconds.
Its presence
does not betray
its action, and then
he buzzes away.
I am left with two thoughts:
either it deduced that
my eyes were not nectar
behind glass,
or
sunlight,
reflected,
blinded it
momentarily.

Hummingbirds often check on those who are generous enough to put out nectar for them.
A daughter saw this and then i began to watch and sure enough that is exactly what I saw.
Your observing poetry is such a treat.
