Hummingbird
Your fragile body hovers
weightless
sucking nectar
from the lily bloom
bursting
pregnant pollen
With your type A personality
no none sense, no stops
on a mission to distribute
sustenance
Pressed
by time
you race to finish
ere your metabolism
empties you
Torpor becomes
tool for survival
Delicate
and tenacious
migrating forward.

I like how the skininess of the poem suggests a hummingbird. I love “Torpor becomes/tool for survival.”
I like the sound of “bloom/ bursting/ pregnant pollen”
It seems absolutely fitting to end this month on the hummingbird! Enjoyed reading your work again!
