Hunger
Clandestine wishes
whispered
in midnight madness
wrap themselves in shadows
to
travel undetected
through thick summer air
I stir in my sleep
third eye open
keeping watch
for disguised mayhem
to devour it
and sate
the hunger
that grows
with each passing moment
when
you
are
not
near

I like the structure of this poem! Great line “keeping watch/for disguised mayhem.”
Thank you so much, Sylvia Ahrens! I appreciate your kind words.
This has the look of a poem, when I read it, it has the sounds of a poem. By the way, your poem fits the page like it is proud…
mtpoet, thank you. I only wish you knew how much your kind words mean to me. I am NOT a poet by any stretch of the imagination. Non-fiction is my wheelhouse. I appreciate the support.
This poem is proud, indeed. Many thanks!
Love the sound rhythms of this poem and its shape, that mirrors the emotion.
Thank you, Karen George! I’m glad you enjoyed it. <3
