I don’t have a poem in me today
the day was full
of beautiful
magic and love,
adventure and
discovery
in one moment we pet
a mini-horse named
Sancho who walked all
the way over to us
through his field
of daisies
for hours we talked
in a resort pool
with two wonderful
gay men that I’m
pretty sure
we’re legit
friends with now
at this moment, though
when I’m supposed to
make a poem in order
to meet a goal,
I’m painfully
bloated, suffocating
inside myself,
probably pre-menstrual
and I just don’t have
a poem in me
better to wait till
I feel better
then I can do the
day justice,
then I can make
a poem everyone
deserves

Sometimes saying it breaks the magic spell and you end up writing something wonderful like this. We’ve all been here—thanks for putting words to the feeling (and for writing anyway)! Also, don’t sell this one short, especially if it makes you—and others—smile.
Also also, whatta day!
Thanks, Katie!
Sometimes it is what it is and that’s ok too!
Totally different reasons, but…
Precisely where I was today, as well.
Love your work, Bianca.
Thank you, Joseph. I love poets ❤️
This is wonderful. But also I know the feeling. Sometimes I wonder if the language I’ve acquired to write is better at conveying negative emotions and that’s why it is so hard. You’ve captured the joy and gratitude here! That’s difficult!
But do not overlook the fact that a poem has you in it now…
The little horse walking through a field of daisies … is quite poem enough for one day!
Loved your thinking in this one.
