If You Want to be a Pirate, Laddie
If ye want to be a pirate, Laddie,
ye’ll need an eyepatch and a s’ord,
and hanging ’round your waist must be
a loop of knotted cord…
a knot for ever’ day that’s past
since pulling yer anchor free,
and a “skull and crossbones” sail ta hoist
while ye ride upon the sea.

This is a fun read. Its rhythm dances down the page.
The accent and diction in the poem is spot on! I love the title too.
This is great! Arrrgh, the rhythm and the rhyme makes me feet want to skeedattle! (I’m definitely no good at this but you got the skill!) thanks for sharing.
Aye, Matey!
And I think ye!
(P.S. I raised three boys, all grown
with children of their own.)
