* Since 1876 there have been appx. 225,000 official major leage baseball games.
There have been 104 ” immaculate innings” 9 straight strikes.

You learn something every day. I’m really surprised that immaculate innings haven’t happened more often. Kind of like the Triple Crown, I guess. Sometimes they come in bunches.
Bill, I was reading an old essay by John Haines and he said ge doesn’t mind bad poetry if he learns something. Lol…..I figure that might be my out. Lolol
LOL
interesting subject
parallel stanzas, with information added. amazing to have struck out the same three batters on three pitches
As a kid I was a BB stat fanatic, it was why I was so good in math in grade school.. I found your poem fascinating & almost beyond belief so I’ve spent some time with Google and found other crazy stats : Luis V. Garcia is 2nd baseman for the Nats,
the one you want is Luis Heibardo Garcia AND Phillip Maton is from my hometown, Paducah KY. Coleman, thanks for taking me back to my pre 1962 obsession.
Jim, thank you so much for the correction. I was so amazed by this story. I tried to run the odds on this happening again and it just blew mind. Again thank you so much for the info. And that Maton is from Paducah is neat.
