In June
Lilies resisting
a summer deluge turn their
magnificent heads
aslant in the rain
wait for bright winged seductions
fuzzy with longing.
Rain becoming steam,
red gold and deep-lobed petals
tremble open, drink.

I’ll always think of lilies differently after reading your lively poem
Lilies are notorious flirts!
aslant
Such a specific adjective that I don’t often see.
