June Day
sun’s neon disk
unbuttons
day’s sky
pen longs
foghorns
unzip river
from lazy
dawn
birds
quicken
dot wires
with song
currants
fall into palm
tart jewels
cereal’s crown
goslings
line up
swim-ready
buoys of down
corn
sprouts
glittering rattling
scarecrow frowns
sun’s gold
quiets
birdsong dims
pen writes on

like a pointillist painting
favorite image: sun unbuttoning the sky
Fresh imagery and gorgeous repeated sounds!
‘foghorn unzip river’ – only one of a poem full of images painted with slender brush.
This poem is a keeper.
Very tight! And that second to last stanza is my favorite of so many wonderful images.
