Lexington’s Wake Up Call

Bluegrass expanses
divided by black and white
wooden plank fences
Wrought-iron fences
surrounding each small backyard –
Bluegrass-Aspendale
Word of the shooting
spread quickly along leaf-strewn
walkways into streets
