Sponsored by Workhorse, Lexington Poetry Month is an easy to use
platform for poets to publish and share their work in an attractive
way. The community is supportive and diverse, commenting and
encouraging one another throughout June. Money we raise goes
to maintaining the cost of the website and publishing the yearly
anthology. Our goals are to provide every poet (~150) a copy of
the anthology, lower printing costs, and expand opportunities
offered during Lexington Poetry Month, such as featured readings
and poetry workshops.
Kevin…I love this. The question and answer format engages. The last line is quiet strength.
This poem is like a ship that has enough ballast to sail through the storms, somewhat battered for the experience and more seasoned for the next leg of the journey.
Thanks Linda! Some people will insist this is actually a senryu but it’s too much work to fuss about the difference. The syllable count is the same, so there.
Thanks so much, Michele! I post a lot on Facebook and Instagram—friend me on those, ok? Also: my new poetry collection SMOKE will be out in mid-July, available on the Accents Publishing website and on Amazon. Would love to hear what you think of it.
Both heartbreaking and inspiring. Such power in so few words. Nicely done.
Thanks H.A.!

This question and answer speak volumes.
Thanks Karen! I’m working on that erasure!
Golly! How do you do this? How?
Linda, swear to god: I dreamed it. Last night. A satori moment I think.
You, sir are the master of haiku!

Beautiful and touching. You get to the heart of the matter.
Thanks Bill!
Powerful and poignant. Love the question and answer coiled in this gem!
Thanks Pam!
Have I told you, btw, how much I love your profile photo?
That’s all we need, Kevin, the essence of a story. It’s left to us to imagine the rest. This is what good poetry does.
Thanks Lee! I also hope many people will feel that it reflects their own experience.
I agree with Lee – you have said what we need to hear – great work!
Thanks Nancy!
So much truth, so beautifully.
Where will I continue to read you?!

Kevin. So powerful and succinct.
It speaks to all who have suffered and lived through great loss.
Powerful piece. I love the tone you achieve in its concision: honest and cool without feeling too cool or detached.
Thanks, Shaun! I toggle between minimalist and running off at the mouth 😏
Thanks Rosemarie. I hoped it would be relatable.
