Living Rock
Birthed on glacial remains, root and branch directed by lake and drumlin, I imagine aging as rock art. All rock carving is challenging, the art of aging the most problematic. Unlike discarding headstones when things go awry, carving living rock preserves hesitation marks, errors, and bold choices. Yet take comfort in the abrasion of time to soften sharp edges revealing lighter rock beneath.

A lovely haibun!
Thanks for noticing. I just learned about this form this year and love it so much.
Your pre-writing post in this reveal so much about the poet.
Human beings leave their mark on everything….I like thinking about the marks, errors and bold choices…and the idea of a “Living rock”… a kind of permanence implied –even if a ghostly presence over time….thank you Deanna!
