MAGNETIC MIDNIGHT (best time to see auroras)
Luminous streamers of light
weave the night sky
into a corona of rays.
Your skin shimmers
green-hued, yellow
rare red.
You turn to me,
studded with joy.
I grab your hand
and we start to dance
our own primal steps,
arms waving, laughter
spilling out of us.
You are Aurora,
clearing out the dark
disturbance
of your cancer;
finally ready
to restore dawn.

Kathleen, this is lovely.
‘You turn to me,
studded with joy.’
and
‘dance/ our own primal steps’
Beautiful!
Fabulous, Nancy. This one brought me to tears of sorrow and joy!
Kathleen – This is just stunning! “clearing out the dark/disturbance/of your cancer;” very clever. Welcome new solstice!
Great writing.
Thank you everyone for such positive feedback. It’s so hard to know if a poem works!
There is such hope in this porm…
You know a poem works when others realize it…
