Mandatum

Wash each other’s feet, like this:
Let cooling water flow
Gently through humble fingers
Onto dusty, holy feet
For, in your deepest heart, you know
This truth: All feet are holy,
And the dustiest of them
Are most in need of water.

It is easy; but it will be
Harder than you think.

And then there’s this:
Love one another, yes.
But you must also
Love yourself.

And this:
It will be harder than you think.
