May 30, 2020 in Black and White
From a secure launchpad
private monies fire
two white men into space
their rocket slick black-and-white
The President shows up
to boast
what he calls
an all-American-made victory
On the streets
flames and fury
white cops have murdered
another unarmed black man
flat on the ground with a brutal knee pressed
against his neck
until with his last breath
he calls for his mama in heaven

I adore your title. The contrast between the two stanzas is stunning. The secure lauchpad vs. the dangerous streets. Good job.
Can contrast spur change?
Wow! Talk about juxtaposition. Very nicely done.
I am the father of a police, a master police officer. He’s training a rookie not to act like those four…
Love the play on black and white throughout the poem – the contrast of color and of situation. The title is excellent, because it sets the stage for the message of the poem.
You captured it!
Startling contrast.
