Motherhood in Three Haiku
Drove by the old house.
Remember painting that floor?
I treasure those days.
Facebook memory,
a quote by “The Boy.” Lord, I
was one of those moms.
Painful as it is,
I would step on a Lego
to go back in time.

love that Lego detail!
Thanks. We’ve all been there!
Yes! The Lego trade!
In a heartbeat!
The lego one is my favorite. A memorable, relatable image.
Thank you. And sorry if you’ve stepped on one too 🙂
Yep. That last one is hella good.
Thanks. I started with just that one. Haiku always seems so short that it was hard to leave it alone.
Love
Thanks for reading!
The Lego definitely makes the sequence. Nicely done!
Thank you!
the three haiku
work separately
and together
to portray the wishfulness
of lost time
Thanks for your feedback!
Love your poem! And the longing for those early days that you stir up so excellently!!! Thank you!
Thank you. Feeling nostalgic today!
Check out TC Phillips for your kindred poet of the day!
Love it! Thanks 🙂
A delightful poem and I too would make that trade and lie on the floor to lay train track once again.
as somebody who stepped on a Lego this morning, this is great. 10/10 😀
Very nice haiku sequence. If one doesn’t cover it, just string a few together! Smart.
Being willing to take a full Lego to the foot–that’s love. Nice writing, Jennifer.
I like how the 3 become one story. And who doesn’t have those memories?
