Mushy Mushy
for Linda Bryant Davis
You are, without a doubt,
the kindest person I have ever met.
We come from different islands, different
families, different ways.
Your smile is my north star, my guidance.
There is nothing left but you, when I balance
the scales of sweet holy justice.
Your name translates as beauty
from the small piece of you;
your complete soul inside,
to the all encompassing soul of you
which you embody as a perfect fractal.
You are eternal and whole,
need nothing more. All I ask is,
will you let me accompany you
as you wander?

This makes the heart swell. Thanks for sharing.
sweet and gushy–
i hope she doesn’t feel slighted that you di’n’t give her
and acrostic…(only teasing) 🙂
it’s been great reading your work again this year!
It would been more mushy to give me an acrostic! I don’t like the mushy stuff.
You are the fabric from which the universe is quilted and the scent of unfolding rose which gives all things hope.
And you named it Mushy, Mushy. Argh!
Lol
To put a little dye on that Easter egg.
Mushy Mushy is a greeting 🙂
Lol…..I like you so very much 🙂
my honest first-pre/coffee association was
chinese takeout! folded paper boxes,
elegant mouthfuls pinched/presented
between slenderslats of wood.
but i worried that taking it to food for a lovepoem
was going ‘too far’ 🙂
” I could eat that girl for lunch ”
And as you know when it comes to Linda, for me…..she absolutely is a ” craving not a crush”
So very sweet!
Y’all are so funny! If Linda is your North Star, Coleman, can I be your asteroid? 😏 I love you, buddy.
nice title 🙂 (you make us wish to be the subject of such a love poem)
Love the title, the humor, and the sweetness.
I love reading all your poems.
I like the way you’re always willing
to take a risk, even with the Mushy, Mushy
Your heart and meditative sense are so evident in your work, as are the love you both share with us–it spills out. Thank you for sharing it with us in June.
Mushy about a woman and trees. Can’t go wrong there!
