My Ancestors Were Country Folk
They shared a raspy rapport
with the landscape.
Hills and hollers
curved around
their waists and
arched over
their shoulders,
a mediterranean portico,
sheltered in song.

I can almost hear their song. Almost.
Thank you.
I love how you fitted the landscape to them and “raspy rapport” – so good!
Thank you. I love “fitted the landscape to them.”
Wonderfully succinct! I love it.
Thank you. When I finish a short poem I often question if it is long enough. Sometimes less is more.
This song sings! Such happy imagery and lovely memory.
Thank you.
