My First Three Poems
Following Onset of Strawberry Season
Asparagus fronds
sway in wind and heat, strengthening
roots for next season.
To Protect Tender Bush Beans
Twirling red and yellow
daisies, purchased at dollar tree,
hired to startle crows.
Three Rabbits Play in Clover
Even the birds notice
from their soon-to-fledge nesting
site at our down spout.

Good eye, nice haiku. Looking forward to reading more of your poems this month.
Thanks, Tom. Same here.
I especially like #2 with the daisies hired to do a job. BTW I recently finished reading your collection. That was an amazing, often unexpected journey you took me on. Thanks for the sincerety and beauty in the poems.
Thank you so much, Nancy. Means a lot to know how much you enjoyed The Tillable Land. <3
Love these, especially the second one. And echoing Nancy: your book is soul enrichment.
Thanks, Kevin. xo
Melva Sue I’m so happy to see you here this year! Kathryn (A.) sent me your book and I read it and have so much appreciation on so many levels…thank you for all of it and happy lexpomo!
Don’t you love Kathryn! She is a peach on peachbloom hill! Means a lot that you enjoyed TTL. Thanks!

That’s my fav of these three, too. xo
What delight! I especially like the third with — “soon to fledge nesting.”
oh! I love the form for these. My neighbor has asparagus plants so I clearly saw… these are lovely.
I love haiku! The 2nd one is so interesting! I never knew that daisies could scare crows.
