MY ORCHIS AND ME
So fabulous and vital
In your youth
Mid and even older age
You stand upright
Each branch
Flowering
more beautiful
than the next
sometimes
Falteringly fragile
a stem breaks
off
Quickly repairs
You return
Fleshy roots
True to your proper stance
Now and then you ache
Stares and stairs hurt
to ascend
Going down
standing erect
Orchidaceous
Ostentatious
Outrageous
Truthful to self
Almost as difficult
as the climb
Ones that bloom last
strongest stem
breaks
pinned back
With
dark green clips
Works harder
heals itself
Limbs tenuous
slight more delicate
to seize control
Sturdily tenacious
Blossoms fall
Tendons sever
Conviction
Life captivates
Orchid blooms again

I love this, especially “Orchidaceous/Ostentatious/Outrageous”
I like the positive feeling of this poem, and the urge to keep on blooming in old age.
lovely ending
Thank you very much. I am so glad you like the ending.
