My Soundtrack
The sound of birdsong
before dawn, coaxing the sun
to rise one more time.
The sound of the fan
as it turns on the ceiling
over my bedroom.
The sound of voices
in this old house, the groaning
laments, the singing.

There’s a nice duality in this poem. On one hand there’s the groaning laments and at the other there’s singing.
Thanks Linda! Laughter through tears, right?
Feels like a space between the natural and the supernatural. I love the way this poem sounds.
Thanks H.A.! I appreciate both of these thoughts and how they support each other.
I liked listening,
Looks like your comment got cut off by the site crash, Manny. Or maybe you just like listening. 😏
Kevin, this is wonderful.
So full of your voice.
wonderful.
Thanks Coleman!
I love that these end on ‘singing,’ beautiful soundtracks
Thanks Shaun!
Very interesting play with agency here:
The birds coax the sun to rise.
The fan “turns on” the ceiling (nice double meaning).
The “sound of voices” could be actual voices or the house vocalizing.
Enjoyed the ride!
I hadn’t thought of that double meaning in the second stanza, Bud. Good eye!
Background music to live by!
Thanks Sylvia!
sounds a lot like mine the natural world
❤️
Nice! I can’t wait for the release of SMOKE!
Thanks Jeremy! I hope you like it.

and
the groaning
laments, the singing.
What a lovely and real way to meet the day!
Thanks Pam! Btw most of those voices are my own 😏
I especially love the last line in this one, the groan & singing just as likely as the other stanzas, but this connotes more nuanced meaning.
Thanks Ellen!
“the groaning / laments, the singing.” Love that line!
A beautiful soundtrack that completes with “singing.”
