Not There, Not Yet
She stares at pairs of stairs,
each bearing unique airs,
in colors, styles, and possibilities,
but which to take?
She tries to climb some,
but slips and tumbles down,
bruised, unsure, feeling frail,
but also stubborn and set to prevail.
A thrilling and terrifying season of life to be in.

This is great, Sanida. I like how you’re playing with sound and rhyme and alliteration and all that, but not so much that a strict pattern develops. You keep me on my toes and I love it.
Thank you so much for reading my poem and for your encouraging feedback. I much appreciate it!
Speaks of life’s journey. The title “Not There, Not yet” may refer to the universal human condition for we are all works in progress. Strong word choice and vivid imagery. Rhythmic musicality when read aloud. Final line: “A thrilling and terrifying season of life to be in” applies to any time, including the present moment. Thank you for sharing this affecting and thoughtful poem with the Lexpomo community. With gratitude
Thank you so much, L.Sipe! I appreciate your feedback and hearing what you enjoyed about this poem. It means a lot. 🙂
Nice set of words those first two lines
Their sounds as written there seem to
Conquer the English language.
How many ways must there be to make the air sound!
