O How I Long to Give You a Shadow as You Go
For ten degrees cooler
a tall tree at forest’s edge
near the parking lot.

Love this. Something bracingly real about that last line.
Thanks, Kevin. There are so many ways one could wish a cool shadow for another.
Nice. The title is a poem unto itself.
Thanks, Mary.
This title!!!
Thanks for liking the title, Debbie.
Thanks to all you folks. I appreciate your comments and your own poems.
The title leads us into the generous image. Beautiful!
Thanks, Roberta. I’m glad to see your words this June.
The tree shading the parking lot–I often think about how we don’t deserve the grace that nature gives us. I’m hard-pressed to think of something humans have done that has actually helped the environment.
We have planted trees. I want to plant more in my yard to replace the ones dying.
