Our Process is the Same
She is like a magpie
attracted to shiny things,
a bit of foil, a lost coin,
a white button burst
from someone’s shirt.
She collects first,
sorts later:
then the light
in her eyes.
Somehow the art emerges,
the idea at the end.

Love this. This is what poetry is like for me. I start off with a couple things in my mind and write until they connect to each other.
This is wonderful. I love the magpie reference, so true.
You capture well and create a good poem…
The creative process described so well!!
This poem is like a shiny fragment in and of itself. I love your writing.
Thank you!
“Let the poem go where it wants. The poem is smarter than you.” Frederick Smock.
The same for art.
This is such a great quote!
Ditto what Jim said. Love your work
Smock is right, but for me only in June.
