Picking Scabs
Burrow your fingernail beneath browned,
crusty skin, unsuture
new tissue that hides old pain.
Dig, tear, rip, peel.
Reopen
the wound just to see your tender, pink
flesh underneath. Remember
what you’re capable
of withstanding.

What a lovely example of exploding a moment and giving it the care it deserves. The diction here is great, but the last sentence really carries it all home!
Thank you so much, Maira, that is so kind!
