Protracted Spring
rain has slowed the garden to a tease
closed clusters of catalpa hang lazily
only a pale green hint of hydrangea
late blooming angel lily holds its breath
magnolia, pregnant with fat creamy buds,
flowers one deliberate day at a time

Thanks for the tour and a 10 on the landing.
I love the sensual images you share in this perfectly crafted poem. Thanks!
Who has Magnolia been hanging out with?
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
Especially like garden as a tease. Also, the hint of hydrangea. I echo Nancy’s reaction.
