Psalm for Pentecost
one hour
until check out
until check out
flames of memory
engulf free breakfast
her laughter when
is the funeral
eight grandchildren
loved dressed
to the nines
always a story
she did not want
two husband’s gone
I remember when
is the funeral
I remember we
cried loved
laughed singing
remember when

I really like the sparse wording and the repetition. They work well together.
The image “flames of memory” strike me as so true, as do the repeated words.
