Rash Judgements
Don’t
judge
a book
by its back,
poem by its form
or a concert by its venue.
Remember the lurid pulps that cradled the noir of
Chandler, Hammett, Highsmith, Cain, “pointless villanelles that
go nowhere” like Bishop’s One Art,
Roethke’s The Waking,
and never
forget
Wood-
stock!

but… where have all the hippies gone…(?)
Love this! Btw the Bishop poem is my favorite villanelle.
Note: “Rash judgements” is the section title. This fib is #2 in “The Reading Life.”
“lurid pulps” definitely sets a time frame, doesn’t it? And those pulp covers! Woodstock forever!
I’ll never forget Woodstock! Another unique fib!
Wonderful shape poem.
and never
forget
Wood-
stock!
Great ending.
