Reconciled
You like your pizza crust soft
I like to sink my teeth into crunchiness
You lay recyclables on the counter
I move them to the bin
You set our pots on the glass oventop
I put them in the cupboard
You leave doors and drawers open
Walking by, I close them
You like documentaries or animated films
I like drama
You are sick of politics
I can’t wait for the next chapter
You revise
I draft
Yet we allow the other freedom
in how we dress, what we eat,
what music to play,
when to sleep, where to read,
how little to exercise
how much TV to watch
And we’re on the same page
when it comes to how much we love our kids
and cats

Sounds like a good relationship! Nice poem!
Nicely said!
Yin and yang and freedom sounds delightful!
Gaby – Delightful everyday choices to describe a solid partnership. The poem takes us to the glue that holds everything together. I love “You are sick of politics/I can’t wait for the next chapter.”
Nice portrayal of long term stability!
Sweet poem about acceptance, and how that frees you to love each other.
nice description of couple dynamics, an entity with two parts individual within the bubble of together
