remember
-for B. C.
that time I cried
in a meeting
during the pandemic
single mom
scared
of losing my job
& while everyone
sat socially
distanced in chairs
& turned their heads
to offer
sympathetic stares
you got up
afraid
you had cancer
& crossed six feet
of empty space
to bring me a box
of tissues

A powerful, caring moment during a tumultuous time. What a great write.
What an authentic moment shared in a vulnerable and well-crafted poem. Another form of bravery and compassion shared. Thank you.
Thanks, guys. My friend that I wrote this about passed away from cancer last weekend, and it’s one of the small moments of kindness I keep coming back to when remembering him.
Oh my dear, a wonderful poem made even more special by your comment above. May your friend rest in peace.
Heartfelt, strong and powerful!
This what matters the most in life. We inherit not gold but the boxes of tissues given out of kindness.
beautifully laid out poem in a sentence
Powerful and poignant and all in a breathless sentence!
You honor a kind and brave friend well.

I’m sorry for the loss of your friend. This poem is a beautiful reflection of their spirit.
