Return
If we die
in the form of letters
and the sea is
the sender
I’d like to return
as bioluminescence–
chemically reacting
illuminating
shining
floating
in
the
shallow tidal pools–
Yeah,
forget stepping to the light
I will be the torch
in the water
a paradox
witnessed in the darkness
sinfully seductive
first class
licked
stamped
sent
tracked
and safely delivered
home.

first class (first class writing).
Well, thank you!
Brilliant!
Thank you, Sue Leathers. <3
I love the richness of the home to the sea, water being our first environment.
Gaby Bedetti, 100%! Water is home. ❤️
Eeek!!
May be my favorite of yours this month.
Some astoundingly punchy lines and mouth sounds! ?
Wow! Thanks, Joseph Allen Nichols. I appreciate your kind feedback. So glad you’re enjoying the writing.
I hadn’t considered the sounds until I read it (quietly) aloud earlier today. Thank you for noticing!
Glorious!
Thank you, Piper Morrison! <3
I will be the torch in the water. Nicely done.
Thank you, HB Elam! That line was actually one of the first I wrote for this poem. I wasn’t sure where it would go until a few drafts later. I’m glad you like it!
