Reunion VI
The old gym never looked better.
In years past, the aged school building
reminded me of a sinking battleship,
going down for the final time.
Now it serves as a community center,
a place for gatherings and celebrations.
No longer propelling upstream, but floating
at a leisurely pace, like a cruise ship.
Isn’t this how we’d like to celebrate life
in our golden years?

I thought I had finished the “Reunion” poems, but this one just came to me.
Cruise ship is a good metaphor for a building. Gives me the sense of moving through time.
Thank you for reading my poem, and for your nice comment.
I enjoyed this, and how the question at the end gives space for your reader to place themselves in the narrative
Thank you!
….”floating at a leisurely pace”,,,,, ah…. now that sounds nice!….. glad to see another Reunion poem?
Thanks, Amy!
I appreciate the upbeat tone and agile transition into the question.
