roses (a series)
I’ve noted
as I walk and walk some more
there are a good deal of rose bushes
all around this town
places you’d least expect
hidden away
not tended to or cared for
simply existing
blooming currently
I could tell you, if you asked
where to find the secrets
pinks and reds, a yellow here and there
out there, on their own or owned but left to grow uninhibited
which intrigues and slightly disappoints me
and at the same time delights me
beautiful and pure, all the while
unnoticed except by the most observant
or those like me who walk and walk some more

Wow I really love this poem. I love how well you play with commons and the flow of the poem. Also the “commonness” of random rose bushes that have almost a hint of secrecies that youve found really plays out well throughout the poem!
Thank you!
I thought about this while driving the other day. You captured this lovely secret well
Thank you!
I feel like I’m taking a walk with you. I was just wondering this week if anyone’s ever put together an anthology of poems about walking. I love it that you are showing us secret places, revealing to us the unseen.
This makes me think of that adage “bloom where you are planted” and I love it.
This is wonderful, I love the “unobserved” being “seen”
