s and d
bound by the
light
from the
little bulb
that came
with the
machine
transfixing
anything that
was mendable
with press
of thigh
it was
jigga
JIGGA
jigga
JIGGA
JIGGA-
tha-WHACK
and
sah-NAP–!
feed dogs
flashed
a little light
from the back
of their teeth
WHIRRRRRRR-
pucker a bit
—another
pulling
WHIRRRRRRR-
then
sah-NIP
again

An aural cacophony.
The machines and blinking lights are vivid and alive.
Or maybe alive isn’t the right word.
Vibrant. And tooth and thigh give this heft.
I THINK I know what’s going on in this poem but not sure.
based on a true story-
The words (and sounds) of jigga, tha-whack, sah-nap and whirr (rrr) haven’t gone as far — until now!
sah-NAP really should be
cah-THUNK, but i wasn’t sure if it was spelt like that or
kuth-UNK 🙂
You are a hoot in this one, as well as many I have read.
love how you draw this scene, complete with glorious vibrant sound!
Great use of sound.
