Safe Passage
Our lips meet between
anxious breaths
Trembling,
they part in shared anticipation
My mouth
too full
tasting your sweetness
To notice your sorrows
empty into it
They seek refuge on my
acquiescent tongue
One luscious swallow
grants your despair
safe passage
to my unsuspecting heart

it’s like you’re speaking directly to my memories.
Kelly Casey,
I think our written work is cosmically linked. I read your work and it’s familiar, soul-stirring.
Thank you for reading this one (and all of them!).
You really do intimate poetry proud with this one, H. A.
Thanks, mtpoet!
Believe it or not, poetry is my BIGGEST FEAR as a “writer”. I cannot thank you enough for your insights and support.
