Sample from Common Grounds
The Rattlesnake coffee
slithered down my chin.
You made a chiding noise–
I stopped
my impulse
to clean myself.
You kissed the drink
clean from my mouth and face.
Two more times, I repeated the mistake
but not too much by mistake.

Yes!! Bringing in the snake (even in coffee form) is intriguing.
Love it that the coffee is called rattlesnake.
Yeah! Snake medicine is profound. I love that they are regenerative (shed their skin).
The snake from the Garden of Eden also was the first card in a tarot reading I did for a client yesterday.
I didn’t connect that … hmmm ….
Thanks for all the kind thoughts.
sweet
This one makes me smile — “not too much by mistake”. <3
Thanks!
…. and to think I never drank coffee til about 2.5 years ago …
HA! 😉
Mmmm. I have some memories of drinking rattlesnakes…they were an alcoholic beverage that was popular when I was younger. I can’t remember now what was in them, but I think coffee liqueur and bailey’s cream were a part. It has associations with me of being sneaky, so I relate with this poem all the more.
