Serein
Sunlight cracks dismal clouds and humble deciduous
trees become a tropical rainforest
in my backyard, crystalline
sparkles falling from leaf to leaf
like gemstones.
Sirens subside in a cascading decrescendo
as mist rises from makeshift burbling brooks
in prisms
reflecting diamond rainbows
into our kitchen,
twinkling above our spontaneous dish-drying disco.

Learned a new word (serein). And the descriptions are quite strong. Lovely work!
I’m glad I could introduce you to it, it’s such a soothing word. Thank you so much!
dish drying disco…

Absolutely! My mom, sister, and I love to make up outrageous dances after dinner (don’t ask why, lol!) while my dad judges😂
