Serenade
As I lie awake,
stars glitter the bruised plum sky
Cool breezes flutter tent walls,
carry sweet perfumes of blackberry vines
entwined with honeysuckle.
A male whippoorwill cries out
to attract his mate,
and I wonder
if my words
beckon you.
