Shooting Star
me in silica, for she is
the lovely Earth
I am but a lonely meteorite.
An illuminated wish
propels me at the risk
of self-immolation.
I fly into her gravity
little more than
a speck of wonder before she
goes on about her day.
I may always burn.

Damn, I love the word immolation!
That was originally going to be my title, until other ideas manifested. Still had to work it in, though.
Love the spacing here, and the last line ” I may always burn” feels fresher and deeper than the lesser line of “May I always burn”
This resonates with me so deeply. Lovely imagery, as always.
