Sky, Earth, Sea
Child, do not let Darkness play thief with fair Moon, nor Sun with sapphire Sky.
Fire-red and ice-blue — what wonder! — birthing amethyst, wisteria.
Wistful is Water: silence ripples where birdsong trills, a sunk chorus.

Great images and the voice
Is so good.
This poem feeeels like it has always existed.
That’s high praise — thank you so much!
this should be framed and hung on the wall for all to see – beautiful.
This is so sweet! Thank you, Dana.
Really thought the grammar and syntax was working hard here to evoke a mood. Very nice!
Yes, I played around with the grammar and syntax quite a bit to get the syllables and parable-type mood just right. I’m glad you liked it!
I like how the speaker warns both against Darkness and Sun instead of vilifying one. I also love how the speaker pauses to wonder at the mingling of “fire-red and ice-blue;” it reminds us of the need to notice life’s beauty in the middle of our hectic days. Of course, your language is just gorgeous! 🙂
Thank you — I’m so happy you noticed all the quirks I tried to convey!
