Snuffed Out
candle extinguished
before its radience
never triumphed
morbid demise
Now, Lorca stands
embronzed in Madrid
Plaza de Santa Ana
releasing a lark
rising into morning
never to take flght
only a ribbon
of smoke arises

the “r” sounds throughout go well with Lorca’s name and violent death, and the smoke frames the poem lovingly
A beautiful and very concise portrait of Lorca.
Stellar word choice and images, love the “ribbon of smoke” rasing back towards the candle in the beginning.
I see the smoke at the end. Wonderful.
Lovely poem, Dennis. I love Lorca.
Thank you everyone for your kind words!
