spare parts
Today I calmly discussed
the removal of body parts.
Parts perhaps no longer needed,
parts that might turn against me,
Or just lay quietly within,
withering into darkness.
Which fate is more probable?
We will ask the geneticist.
We roll the dice for luck,
avoiding all complications.

The poem identifies the matter-of-fact presentation of options (initially by the surgeon) that contrasts sharply with the emotional reaction of the speaker.
I am glad that you participated in Lexpomo this month. Know there’s a lot going on but you were able to let your inner writer come out. This piece is especially strong as it conveys our general hope of avoiding complications.Good poem
Thanks for the encouragement Jim!
