Sweet Fruit
“Orange sherbet…”
was the last thing she wanted
and maybe some pineapple
She could take no food by mouth
we swabbed her poor dry lips
and moistened her tongue
I hope it was the first thing she got in Heaven
This is too hard for me to write.

The heartbreak and sorrow from this poem… My deepest sympathies for wherever this poem comes from.
Thank you Philip
When Covid struck, orange sherbet was the only thing I craved. Your poem touched so many memories . . .
first line to last
(title too)
capture the moment
for you
Heartbreaking and beautiful It brings back vivid memories of my mother. I can see and feel this scene.
Wow! You create such an image, convey so much emotion in so few words. Excellent poem!
