you were all my reasons
whistle, pines on wind,
and you were all my loving.
the flame stirs no more.
no more the fragrant attar,
no more your graceful waters.
in pain, naked frost.
bone deep pain, old bone, thrown out.
i see jonquils, then
the hungry dog outside, then
pain cancels all my reasons.

I really love the second verse. The stark images of pain juxtaposed with that central jonquil.
🙂
truly think the first verse needs tweaking or throwing out all together. kept looking at this morning, unsure.
First two lines really sing. Don’t get rid of those.
Then they will sing.
Listen to Linda!! Also I love the snow flowers and the deep bone pain
I will listen to the group conscience on this one for sure. 😉
I’m sorry, you broke me at the title 😂
This one felt a little more raw, compared to your other pieces this summer, but I don’t say that as a bad thing at all. After that title, I was expecting such. Another felt one, sir.
Joseph, you had me at hello. LOL. (Did I really break you? hahahahaha). I’m honored you enjoyed it.
