Tap root
I’ll be an oak.
Hundred of lives
perch and burrow
slither and scamper
in my arms,
alight and flutter
crawl and climb
around my hips,
the chaos of the ecosystem
buzzing around my head,
deafening sometimes.
I choose to be the oak,
overwhelmed with lives.

Oak tree, thank you for your sacrifice. You may tattered, twisted, and scarred by the time your days are done, but you are also beautiful, essential, sturdy, and majestic.
I love this
I love this, too! And I love trees. And life.
