The Comeback Retreat
Sound: Birds, water, children, quiet
conversation
Sight: Trees, parkscape, blue turtle
reservoir
Smell: Changing earth and plants
of every place and season
Taste: Gus’ Fried Chicken, Mother’s
Pita Sandwiches, Dad’s
Peanut Butter Fudge, the Feast
of Seven Fishes
Feel: Leaves everywhere. Worthy ground
cover. Good earth/trails. Sometimes trail
roots. Sometimes moss. Sometimes a
bridge.
The squirrels and bunnies watch in the
company of geese and other fowl.

Lexington is one of my Beau’s and mine’s Comeback Retreats.
Are you here now?
Oh goodness! I wish– I will be public on Facebook about visits.
I like to give advance notice, too.
Much love!🫂
Love how this is also a bridge, in its way, to the concluding lines: “Sometimes trail/roots. Sometimes moss. Sometimes a/bridge.”
It’s been such a honor receiving your feedback.
Thank you so much, Shaun.
I love how you cast yourself as an observer along with the other critters of the world.
Wow! You’re always noticing something I didn’t realize was happening in my poetry!
Love this for us and love you for that!
Thank you, Slyvia.
