The Dull Woman Veers from Poetics and Rants About Venomous Flying Spiders
Really, World?
Now you’re loosing some leggy limey creature the size of a Volkswagon on us
As if we didn’t have enough to keep us up at night
Warring nations
Storms of demonic rage
The earth burning
Insane men spewing hate
Their dangerous sycophants
Give me a thinker any day
Someone who considers both sides
Someone who still holds out a hand
Someone wild with smiles and kindness
I double down on peace and freedom and democracy
I double down on rights for all
I double down on the arts
I double down on generosity of spirit
Fuck the spiders
I fling my scarf over my shoulder
And head out the door

in the form
of tongue-in-cheek
Thanks for reading, Jim!
“Someone wild with smiles and kindness” is so powerful, and so needed in this crazy world. I love and applaud the double down stanza. The ending with you flinging your scarf over your shoulder is such a great visual.
Thanks, Lee. Even the dull woman likes drama now and then.
This was a trigger warning I should have heeded! And a good reminder to call the bug man. Ha ha I love the spirit of victory in the end. Nice!
Ha! Enjoy the bug man comment!

I was watching too much news that day! Grrrr.

Fuck the spiders
I fling my scarf over my shoulder

If only we could target those natural hazards against the unnatural! Thanks for this wonderful rant that hit home so much.
I double down on the double downs! Rant on. The world needs more of us to pay attention.
