It Felt Like The Air Was Falling Down
It felt like the air was falling down
It took my breath
Chunks of the world flaking off
A weightless barging of monstrosity
Everything feels it has rent
Treaties and laws soaking up
Black slicked sidewalks
I’ve heard
Just as if discovering
leeches have been chewing
spiraling spike holes
up and down my legs and back
and now patterns of their meat grinding
drain hole teeth have left an imprint
you could almost read in braille
Massive planets are colliding
An expansion meeting a contraction
and I’m reading field notes on Emily Carr
while bleeding out
whose worded impressions
helped to interiorize her outdoors
Tomorrow’s possibility may hold
transformation perhaps I’ll suddenly be
a stream slicked in tundra violet
or maybe Garfield will come
and rescue me as he did when I was young
The world lately as chock full
of unreality as it was then
I’ve already begun to crack
and I’m excited to see what will hatch.
A dream I’ve been having
A blank page
