There’s a Rock on the Fire
Consciousness let out on bail.
Jonah’s back in the belly of a whale.
Jack and Jill have a hole in their pail.
I am the hammer, also the nail.

Love this one, Mike. Plays nicely with my expectations.
What a set !! I want to memorize it as a comfort poem; so cool
A song-like quality to this, Mike. Nice poem.
Love it!
Hammer AND nail make a well-crafted poem! Master carpenter.
My favorite line is the final one —“I am the hammer, also the nail”
It is especially striking to me.
Seems to speak of both self-critique and universal truth that we are at times both agent and victim, the force and the object acted upon.
Crazy wit and philosophical depth in just a few lines. bravo.
Wonderful!
You can absolutely hear your musicality in this.
Adore this: Jonah’s back in the belly of a whale.
The title is an image I carry and compare to each line. Good work!
