Thérèse
Who said sainthood needs to be grand?
Hardly ever more than a little girl,
she became a Doctor of the Catholic Church
by simply believing she could make it to Heaven
when she never really believed in herself.
How much can we still do, then?
I look to her for inspiration, intercede for me,
and all these beliefs held in my heart so long.
Teach me your little way of undying hope
so I may someday find the life I hope to live.

I love this, especially this line:
Teach me your little way of undying hope
Thank you, Deanna!
A good poem. A good prayer.
Thank you as always Dennis!
Teach me your little way of undying hope
so I may someday find the life I hope to live.
Oh, to find the life I hope to live!
And I do hope that you find it!
What Melva Sue said about the last two lines. I love your use of inner monologue.
Lovely!
i had a book of the saints as a child and cherished it among my favorite things to read. i also write about saints, and this is a great poem.
Saint books were some of my favorites to read, learning about their lives and such. There’s lots of inspiring stuff in them!
