This is the story of
the river, her friend
time, the
door that led to space. The
book
of windows
had to close
in what had gone wrong
in
the world.
Some
folks argued that
peo-
ple weren’t
at fault,
constantly
shattering the
golden
quiet,
quivering the ground.
~ An erasure of Elizabeth Strout’s novel Tell Me Everything pgs. 7-8. The poem’s title is taken from p. 1

Love the invitation the title gives “This is the story of” to enter this beautiful poem…”the river, her friend
time, the
door that led to space.
Fav line: quivering the ground.
Thank you, Pam.
Karen – another amazing poem. I am in awe of your gift!
Thanks so much, Sylvia.
Wondrous. You are such an inspiration.
Thank you, Kevin.
The ending of this poem sends shivers, Karen!
Thank you, Nancy.
Karen,
You have lifted this genre to staggering new heights. What you do is masterful!
Thank you, H. A.
Gorgeous! So much to enjoy here but “the river,/her friend/time,” had me locked in from the start. You find the narrative and delve in.
Thank you, Shaun. I was happy to find that beginning.
We call them threshold titles and when they work….oh! I love love the title. This one moves really fast and then i read it again slower and it went deep.
Thanks for this one ! I’m gonna read it again now…lol. 😃
Thank you so much, Coleman.
This caught me by surprise–I love your choices and where they brought me—opened my eyes. I like this a lot:
“shattering the golden quiet, quivering the ground.”
thank you!
You’re welcome, Ann.
